Cups hold the emotional life. They describe love in all its forms, the bonds between people, grief and its slow tides, and the imagination that feeds on both. The Ace is an open heart; the pips move through partnership, celebration, apathy, loss, memory, choice, departure, contentment, and fullness; the courts are people who lead with feeling.

Cups in a reading ask what you actually feel underneath what you think you should feel. Upright, the suit tends to say the feeling is trustworthy. Reversed, it points to feeling withheld, spilled, or turned against itself. When several Cups land together, the question on the table is almost always about a relationship, including the one you keep with yourself.
